time for a update:
i am off work this week so thought it was time to start doing something to the gte.
so last week ordered the rest of the bits to build the engine inc some new arp bolts.
first off it was time to clean the engine and gearbox and then pop some paint on there
it was then time to get on with some real work ;)
first thing was to remove the crank (needed to take off the internal triger as using a external one )
once this was out i could go about fitting my new arp mains studs
and there they are all fitted
there is just something about a set f stud's fitted thats just ummmm
after such good work it would have been rude to have stopped so while i had the go i got the rest of the bottom end together
so the bottom end is now all torqued up got all the oil pump and seals ready to go on tomorrow
if i am lucky by the end of the week it will be in
and my new management turned up
so a happy boy at the moment _________________ glove boxes FTW |

| Whats the reason for removing the internal trigger and using an external trigger? |

Rob i think the trigger disk was getting in the way of the oil sprayers.
If you want it i have a external disk here along with a bracket i fabricated to mount the crank sensor 2. Mark prefered to run the stock trigger and disk though. |

Is Rob using different sprayers to other people? Didnt think there was ever a problem with clearence? I know the engine I've got ready to go in, the one Jamie built, said the piston was very close? But nothing about sprayers.
My preference would be internal trigger too, thats why I asked the question. SM4 is cappable and is proven on both our cars. |

as rick said its all to do with the oil jet
if you have a oil jet fitted on the first crank jernal then because of how close the trigger disc fits to the bore there is only a very small gap for the jet to get throw
it would prob be ok as the jet would hit the disc and then fling up.
but i was a little worried that on a long high speed run there would not be as much under piston cooling as the other pistons.
so its come off and i am going to use external.
there is no real difference between a external or internal set-up as long as its fitted correctly _________________ glove boxes FTW |

| The thing is rob the stock disk slots over the crank journal and is quite a tight fit anyway so do you not think you will still get the problem without the disk? |

on its only a close fit on 60 percent then there is a massive gap so there will be a good amount able to get up unlike with the disc where its close 100 percent of the time _________________ glove boxes FTW |
