hello

To start with this is something that me and my brother are goona do so to be honest so its not going to be anything spectaclar, so more than likely i will be flooding this website with questions on what i am doing and reccomendations on what i should be doing PMSL

We are going to attempt to do evrything ourselfs bar stuff like welding and things that we just dont have the skills to do off hand! so we will be looking for wiring guides etc when we get to actually fitting the engine Thumbs Up

to start with we have found ourselfs a corsa off ebay for £400 with the engine fucked due to the crank being seized

so here it is almost when we got it home(forget to get a shot of it when it arriced but here it is on the ramps)

then we took out the fooked engine, only took a few hours

and today we have ripped out all the interior and as much of the easy stuff as possible, only bit really is to get that tar shit off the floor that looks like its going to take ages!! frown

now it looks like this inside:

Dude, the tar shit is a mare!

I used blow torch to super heat it to melty consistency, then a wide wallpaper scraper & get it off.

You will be suprised at home much shit comes out, remember there are rubber bungs & wires, so dont melt them LOL

like i said on the phone mate, it takes time to get that tar shit off but it'll make a good weight saving overall, i think i took out nearly two bin liner full's out of my astra.

as mantamark said a blow torch or hot air gun and a wide scraper will get rid of it, then i used petrol to wipe away the excess tar.

how are you going to paint the inside? black hammerite?

Use rattle cans to paint, the thicker the paint, the better.

Hammerite is good, but it can be expensive, i found a few coats of cheapo satin black did the job for me.

Don't forget the primer ;)

I have removed the sound proofing from a few cars recently - for large flats use the heat gun and a paint scraper - doesn't take much heat to scrape it off. For uneven/intricate areas use a small wood type chisel and it chips off if you hit it right.

By far the easiest way to remove the left overs and leave the most paint is using wire wool - I was very surprised how well it did and how easily it did it!

I found the wire wool to be alot better than the drill with a wire brush - didn't have a sand paper attachment to try though.

No not really mate as alot of the bits i need are still on the black one, but hoping to have that all stripped by the weekend, or at least mostly!!

the only thing that has been done is the seats have gone in loosley as i needed to put them somewhere but they wont be staying in as i still need to get a heat gun and get that tar crap up!!

So at the weekend i am hoping to get the engine out of the black one with all the brakes etc, so might see the brakes go on??

then once the engine is out i will have a gearbox for the XE that is in the garage and i can start getting that ready to go in!!!

is i wanted the cage doing it ok the have the engine in isn't it?

only problem with stripping two cars is the amount of bit left over my old man has a double garage and onle half of it is my vauxhall bits!!! i am sure you all have the same problem but i will take a pic and show you the mess i have made!!! lol

top tip clap

depends if you want the cage through to the front turrets rich, you dont need it tho tbh.

thinking about it why dont you use a bolt in cage, that way at least if you smash the car up or want to sell the car you can strip everything back out of it and not loose any money......
