|
|
Folling on from the EVO 5 thread.
Started to stip the corsa down yesterday afternoon.
Got the Turbo off
Sump off
Rocker cover off
Cams out.
There was quite alot of oil in the intercooler and in the boost pipe from the turbo to the cooler.
I couldnt realy see any bits of turbo last night but it was dark so im gona have a look today. Oil didnt make it to the top hat so im hoping no bits did.
Here is afew pics.
My plans are to get the H beam rods ive got in. 1.9mm head gasket and a better turbo.
Also im planning on painting it and giving it a tidy up.

I found the nut off the end of the turbo shaft but it was on the floor. I would say that it fell out of either the intercooler or a boost pipe.
Afew more pics to come. |

Well i am pritty chuft with how well the inturnals look. Im no expert but i would say the the bores, pistons, head and crank were all fine. I can still see the hone marks in the bores. There is no lip at the top.
Ive got to clean the pistons up abit to see for DET along with the head
There was alot of oil on the pistons but i knew there would be.
It all looks spot on. Shame to take it apart.

TBH mate i think ive got away with it. Ive not seen anything other than oil that shouldnt be in the block. I will give it a clean with carb cleaner or the like but im not going to strip it rite down.
Im still undersided on a turbo. S1444, GT28 or GT2071R? |

Depends what you want from it dude! Is it being built for the 1/4 or track? Or just road...
S144 hybrid if its for track use imo...
Big as you can fit for anything else |

Well i do want to do some track days next year. I also what to do better at Pod and id also like to piss of some locals.
The good this ima about the s1444 is that it will bolt straigh on. No messing about with a downpipe and oil feed ect. I could use my 3" downpipe.
Ive read that the s1444 will only go to about 320bhp ish. And hold 22psi of boost? |

320 sounds about rite for a S144, MikeH had one on his with Phase2 and made 316, that was bolted to a DSOP pipe and 3" system.
AFAIK Welsh Adam has his old turbo and its for sale atm so might be worth having a word with him, not sure what his name is on here tho... _________________ "In a perfect world... spammers would get caught, go to jail, and share a cell with many men who have enlarged their penises, taken Viagra and are looking for a new relationship." |

I have been talking to Adam on Mig. £400 deliverd. There is now one on Ebay aswell.
The s1444 does sound good. It would mean the corsa would be back out sooner. |
